Meet Jade Kidd: The Creator of Flesh Or Bone
Hi, my name is Jade Kidd, I am 21 years old and I am a BA (Hons) Broadcast Journalism graduate.
After watching the news over the past few weeks I have noticed that the modeling world has become a highly discussed and debated issue. Do they have the perfect bodies? What is better skinny or curvy? These are the questions that have divided society for many years and now with models speaking out of their terrible ordeals working in the modeling industry, I believe it is time to highlight it and share my opinion.
Through this blog, I firstly want to share my opinion on the recent stories in the news, covering the experiences of models in the industry. I then want to use this to break down the barrier skinny models and plus-size models and address why the fashion industry is so obsessed wth the 'perfect body'. Lastly, after hearing for many years of anorexia, body dysmorphia and drug addiction cases becoming more and more frequent in the industry, I want to discuss what causes this and do this and does the pressure of being judged on your body eventually drive you to a darker place?.
I feel it is important to share this as the younger generation can sometimes feel pressured to look a certain way by models and magazines and I feel there are not many blogs out there that are addressing this issue. By raising awareness of this issue I hope to help people, especially younger people to gain a better understanding of exactly what models have to face and reassure people that there is no such thing as 'perfection'.
